A new school year, so a first time for everything. Also the Albertian Cultural Dayz. This is a weekly celebration. Each Friday afternoon, one of the departments will give a performance with dance, song, acrobatics, etc. Each department gets its turn twice per school year. But for the inauguration, at the beginning of the new school year, there is of course a big party.
For this first time, several actors had been invited. Just like at the Finesse party of the Albertian Institute of Management, they are of course mainly here to promote their new film. But for St. Albert's, they invite celebrity guests to add lustre to their own party.

First of all, we were treated to a traditional dance by two young ladies. With a lot of expression on their faces and in their postures, they performed an almost synchronous dance. This was followed by a group of boys, at least one of whom I recognized. We had seen him dance before, I remebered, and we had also seen him in one of our classes. I know it sounds really bad, but we meet so many people. It's still hard for us to tell everyone apart. Especially after some time, if you don't see someone on a daily basis. However, some people have such a clear and expressive face or behaviour

Indian actors have to be a jack of all trades. In addition to acting (which, I think, is sometimes less important than their other talents), they also have to be able to sing and dance. So when the students were allowed to ask the celebrities some questions, they asked for a song and a dance. After the formalities of lighting the lamp, there was singing and dancing on stage with as many people as possible.
Unfortunately, we did not get very much of it. Only Malayalam was spoken, and this was aggravated by the fact that there was a large group of photographers right in front of us. So much for sitting in the front row!
Then it was the turn of students who had been practising their performance in the past two weeks. Practising takes place at school. It seems to be seen as an important part of the education and upbringing of young people.

that they seem to make a lasting impression. And you recognize them in the crowd every time.
The last group we watched perform was a group of girls, dressed in the traditional dress of Gujarat performing another traditional dance. This looked splendid again, as they whirled around in their dazzling dresses and with their ornaments sparkling in the light. However, after this dance performance we left the celebration. We didn't stay to hear St. Albert's house band perform this time. It was almost half past three and we were hungry. But it what a great opening to the new cultural year.
