Going on a picknick

22-04-2024

As it is now summer holidays, we are going travelling. On the one hand, that's good, as we will be travelling before the monsoon. On the other hand, it is getting really hot everywhere now. Even the locals are complaining about it.

We booked the first part of our trip in advance. We are travelling by train, and not always good seats are available. Although we prefer to book the next leg of our journey as late as possible, that won't always be easy. So either book earlier, or use an alternative to the train.

On the map, the first distances have already been fixed. From Ernakulam to Palakkad. Then we will continue to Coimbatore. From Coimbatore, we will go to Pollachi. And after that, we will travel to Madurai. Palakkad is the last stop we make in Kerala for now. The next part of our tour will be through Tamil Nadu, and from Bangalore we will be in Karnataka. The journey from Bangalore we have not yet filled in. We are not yet sure which way we will continue from there. It will either be diagonally downhill back to Ernakulam, or we will make our journey longer and go a bit further north to a few more places worth seeing.

For now, we are assuming that we are spending over three weeks on trains and in hotels. When we discussed our not-so-determined plans with the Fathers, Father Shine in particular found it hard to grasp that we had not planned everything in detail. Father Thoppil did say that not planning and committing too much is the best way to travel. We roughly have an itinerary in mind, so it's all going to work out.

We look forward to the special encounters and beautiful places we will see during our trip.
